No matter how many picture books I check out during the year (and believe me, it's hundreds) there are always ones that I've missed. These 2016 lists are a great way for me to find those books. I'm fortunate that my library is part of a consortium which means I can get my hands on nearly any book I want from another library in the consortium. It gives me access to lots of books I wouldn't otherwise be able to get. And I can usually get them in just a few days.So as these Best Of lists come out I'm picking up books at the library and placing others on hold. I've already started on the
New York Public Library 2016 100 Notable Titles for Reading and Sharing.
Next I'm going to concentrate on the following lists for nonfiction thanks to the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA)
NSTA's Outstanding Science Trade Books for Students K–12: 2016 (Books published in 2015)
And I'm a huge fan of Betsy Bird and Fuse 8
and her fabulous 31 Days, 31 Lists. Since I'm partial to nonfiction and biographies I'll also be exploring these three lists to start:
31 Days, 31 Lists: Day 27 – 2016 Nonfiction Picture Books
31 Days, 31 Lists: Day 26 – 2016 Unique Biographies for Kids
31 Days, 31 Lists: Day 22 – 2016 Fictionalized Non-Fiction for Kids
So if you're looking for great books on great lists now is the perfect time to uncover them!
